Arline L. Bronzaft, Ph.D.

Arline L. Bronzaft, Ph.D. is a Professor Emeritus of Lehman College, City University of New York and an Expert Witness on adverse noise impacts on mental and physical health. She serves on GrowNYC, directing its noise activities, and was named to this volunteer position by the Mayor and the three previous Mayors as well. Dr. Bronzaft conducts research, writes and lectures on the adverse effects of noise on health. She has chapters on noise in eight books, including the most recent one Why Noise Matters (Earthscan, 2011), and has articles on noise in encyclopedias and academic journals. She also has written on noise for the popular press and is frequently quoted in the media in the United States and abroad. She also assisted in the recent updating of the New York City Noise Code.

Robert W. Mann, Jr.
Mr. Mann is an independent airline industry analyst and consultant, principal of R.W. Mann & Company, Inc., which specializes in the identification, development and implementation of structural improvements to industry productivity, distribution and profitability. He has more than thirty-five years of increasing responsibility and direct experience in the passenger and express airline industry in a broad range of disciplines, including finance, business/fleet/facilities and resource planning, information and service systems development, marketing, sales, and general management, both domestic and international in scope. Founded in 1993, his consulting practice has advised airline management, employees, investors, and airline and travel industry-related technology firms.
Mr. Mann believes, as we do, that air commerce can and should be expanded in ways that maximize the extensive favorable impacts to local economies while being sensitive to and mitigating any adverse impacts to local population and interests, and as a “best practice”, there is no valid reason to proceed otherwise.

Henry A.F. Young,  AICP Young Environmental Sciences, Inc.
Mr. Young is a senior consultant in environmental planning. He has accomplished or participated in over 160 professional environmental determinations, reports and analyses in 38 years of practice. Mr. Young specializes in compatible land use planning around airports, heliports and other locally unwanted land uses. He specializes in acoustic research including field measurement, computer modeling, and mitigation. Investigations performed include the preparation of Environmental Impact Statements, Environmental Assessments, and expert witness testimony. Other services offered include the assessment of tall structures in accordance with FAR Part 77, the design and establishment of noise monitoring systems and the conduct of noise abatement planning studies. Mr. Young is especially familiar with environmental regulations of the State of New York and the City of New York.

Commercial Airline Pilot.
This pilot has been flying large passenger jets for a major air carrier into and out of NY airports for the past 21 years. Prior to his current assignment he was an F-18 pilot for approximately 6 years in the US Navy. For about the last year he has been primarily flying into JFK from airports in the US and Europe and is very familiar with the efforts of airports in Europe to reduce aircraft noise.
